Dear Governor Brown, Please Sign AB250 For High Quality Education Into Law!
UPDATED: SUCCESS! Governor Brown signed AB250 into law on October 8, 2011.
Your urgent action is needed by October 6, 2011! An important education bill that shifts the state toward high-quality education for all and Common Core Standards is now on Governor Brown’s desk, awaiting his signature by October 6, 2011 — and yours.
While the focus on what K-12 students learn has gotten narrower, expert teachers, committed parents and lawmakers, and civic-minded businesses have instead rallied support from all around the state to launch California public schools into the 21st century with a bold, uncompromising vision. The result? AB 250, the Curriculum Support and Reform Act of 2011. If passed, it would align the Golden State with already-adopted Common Core Standards and with cutting edge Partnership for 21st Century Learning (P21) principles shared by 15 other forward-looking states.
More than eighteen education and community groups are official supporters. Among them: the California Council for the Social Studies, California School Boards Association, California State PTA, Parents for Great Education, and the Californians Together Coalition.
Show your support by adding your name below and ask that Governor Brown sign AB250 into law to ensure that schoolkids in California are taught a broad, rich, curriculum that includes the arts, sciences, history, and civics, in addition to basics like reading and math.
