Go Read It: House GOP Looks to Slash Ed Spending (Ed Week)

Education Week’s Alyson Klein reports that House Republicans propose $4.9 billion in cuts to education from a U.S. Department of Education budget that is projected at $63.7 billion. Beginning next week, amendments will be debated and offered.

Because we ended fiscal year 2010 on Oct 1, 2010, the federal government has been operating on stopgap extensions. The DOE is among several parts of the federal government whose extension will run out on March 4, 2011.
